Former Walter Reed child doctor charged with sex abuse of children


An 83-year-old former pediatrician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in D.C. has been charged with numerous counts of child sex abuse.

Leslie Boyd Alstatt, of Silver Spring, was arrested last week by Montgomery County Police and released on bond. He was charged with charged with with five counts of committing a third degree sex offense, child abuse, and six counts of committing an unnatural and perverted sex practice.

According to police, three women who were related to Alstatt notified police that they had been abused when they were young, between the years of 1964 and 1996.  One victim reported that her abuse occurred between the ages of six to fifteen and that she was abused hundreds of times.

Leslie Altstatt was employed as a pediatrician and researcher at the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center located at 6900 Georgia Avenue N.W. Washington, D.C., from the mid-1960s until the early 1980s.
